Elizabeth (Lisa) Rivera, Esq. focuses her practice in the areas of bankruptcy, residential and commercial real estate and civil litigation. Lisa graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Central Florida in 2005. She received her Juris Doctor from Stetson University, College of Law in 2008 and a master’s degree in Accounting from The University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2018. Lisa has worked in the government field, with both the Department of Veteran’s Affairs and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. However, she found her home in private practice representing individuals, families and small businesses in bankruptcy and real estate law. She routinely represents and advises clients on various types of legal real estate issues in both the commercial and residential sectors, including foreclosures, short sales, loan modifications and landlord and tenant disputes. Lisa has also worked for and owned her own title company, acting as the closing agent and representing both buyers and sellers in the purchase and sale of their homes. Lisa joined Jonathan P. Cohen, P.A. in 2017. Her bankruptcy and civil litigation experience bring a breadth of knowledge to sureties to better assist them in protecting contract balances, pursuing indemnity and post-judgment collections.
